… Where’s Kara? Or, more to the point, where is all the exciting content and direct-from- recruiter information you, Kara’s devoted readers, come seeking in this blog? Well, Kara fell “off the wagon” as it were with regards to blogging as the fall 2011 semester wrapped up. Mostly because I was so busy on the road, hammering out brutal itineraries of meeting after meeting with organizations ripe to hire Freeman students and grads. Or, sometimes… NOT so ripe, and in need of more compelling information about our amazing academic and experiential learning programs before being pursuaded to post their jobs with us.
My travels this year have taken me to the East Coast, West Coast and back again. Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, San Francisco, Austin, and more!
My apologies to my (small, but hopefully growing!) legion of readers who come seeking insights from the job market on this blog for the lack of communiation throughout the spring.
Now, dear Freeman community, I must confess that I”ll be signing off yet again for a few months. I’ll be welcoming a new addition to my family in early August and will be out on maternity leave until November. Throughout my absence, the Career Management Center team will be tending the flock of recruiters and alumni whom I call on, nurturing the relationships until I return.
Many of my contacts will be on campus this fall for recruiting. Many will be posting jobs on Freeman Link, to which you should all be tuned in at least once a week throughout the semester! Still more of my contacts will be calling the CMC team asking for resumes of students who qualify for jobs and internships in their organizations.
** IF YOUR PROFILE IS COMPLETE, ACCURATE AND UP-TO-DATE IN FREEMAN LINK, including information on your industries, companies and geographic areas of preference, YOU WILL BE IN THAT NUMBER of resumes sent to these companies (assuming you meet their GPA requirement and other prerequisites). If your profile in Freeman Link (as well as your approved resume) is NOT up to date and accurate, you will miss out on these great opportunities for hand-to-hand resume referrals with some of the most sought-after employers for whom Tulane is NOT a target school but with whom we’ve been able to negotiate this specialized referral entry point for our students.
Please, keep your profile in Freeman Link COMPLETE, UP-TO-DATE and ACCURATE and make sure your most recent, approved resume is on file in the system. I thank you, as do the alumni and recruiters who come to us seeking a way of opening their career opportunities to Freeman School students such as you.
Although I may be temporarily off the wagon, the CMC is still on the case, hard at work serving you, the students and cultivating relationships with companies that you want to work for. Do your part to sieze the day this fall recruiting season. See your career counselor, stay active in Freeman Link, attend Freeman Days, utlize every on-campus recruiting event, information session and speaker series event to grow your professional network. It works if you work it!
See y’all in November!
